Non-governmental organizations and foundations

Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) are not-for-profit entities. Such organizations have relation neither to government nor to business. NGOs have a different independent role in society. They are mainly funded by grants.

NGOs are generally divided into public associations and foundations.

A public association is an entity of public importance established by individuals for pursuing non-profit goals.

A foundation is a non-profit corporation or a charitable trust that makes grants to organizations, institutions, or individuals for charitable purposes in such areas as science, education, culture, and religion.
